Update 1/31/07

1. I dropped off my diet (DAMN JOB) and still lost 10 pounds. I'm down to 190lbs and was able to get into my favorite pair of jeans that I had to squeeze into last month.

2. I'm still waiting on the job that I applied for LAST MONTH! After the telephone interview, it was inferred that I had the job, but the company still does not know the start date for the training class. Our starting day is the day of the training class, so until they know when that is, we are sitting in limbo. I'm just ready to quit my present job is all I know.

3. Can someone tell me how you can get the flu twice in 3 months even though you got a damn flu shot? I know, there are 3 strains of flu out this year! That's how!

4. I haven't been dating anyone on the real since Hollywood and I called it quits. Hell, I haven't been on a date in the last 2 months. The last date that I planned, didn't happen cause the dude got called in to work. What I have been doing is hanging out with friends more often. We've been bowling 8 of the last 10 Fridays and usually have some sort of get together every other week. I've been having fun, so until I decide to start dating for real, this is what i'll do.

5. Does anyone else have an ex in their life that they can't stop thinking about. Dreads and I broke up 6 years ago on February 8, 2002 and I don't think that I will ever stop loving this man. Every so often, I get that notion that he and I are soulmates and that we should try again at a relationship. The one looming issue is that we live 200 miles apart and I am not up for distance and I damn sure ain't moving. He can't move because he is still in his PhD. program. Oh well, time will tell.

6. Is anyone else excited that it's tax season? As soon as I wake up in the morning, I am logging into Turbotax and sending mine off. The feds aren't processing until February 11th, but Georgia started processing on the 24th of January. One thing about Georgia is that if I file my taxes tomorrow, I should have my refund by next Wednesday!!

7. It's finalized that I am not planning a trip for my birthday, so that LCD TV (thank God for tax refunds) is in order. One of my co-workers has offered to sell me his 42" for $700. I didn't want on that large, but for the price, I may just get it. At that price i'll have money left over to get a surround sound system to go with it.

8. Even though I don't care who wins the democratic nomination for president, I am still voting for Hillary Clinton. It's not that I like her more, it's just that Barack Obama just doesn't appeal to me. And I WILL NOT vote for him solely because he is Black.

9. One of my friends enrolled in a program called NACA that puts people on the right course to homeownership. He's completed the program and is now looking for a home right now. I may have to look into this cause I'm tired of waiting to buy a home for myself.

10. I need a new wardrobe for real. I have a habit of buying clothes in bunches and wearing them over and over until I get tired of them. I need to revamp my closet and start fresh.

Well Damn Shaq!!!!!!!!!

If you make this much damn money, why the hell do you have a car note and mortgages? No matter what people say about tax breaks, I would rather save money by not spending interest. If you buy a $300,000 home, you end up spending twice that over 30 years by paying interest.

http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/7720632?MSNHPHMA

$156,116 in mortgages on three homes (including his $20 million mansion on Miami Beach's Star Island), plus $31,299 in homeowners insurance;
$110,505 for vacations;
$26,500 a month for child care;
$24,300 for gas;
$17,220 for clothing;
$12,775 for food;
$10,065 for electricity;
$10,000 for temporary child support;
$10,000 for alimony;
$6,730 for dry cleaning;
$5,000 for car payments;
$3,345 for phone bills;
$2,305 for pets;

You've Been Rejected! What Do You Do?

Rejection! We all done it to someone and we all have been subjected to it. We all know that we want a dude who has everything we want and if he doesn't, then he'll most likely be rejected Whether those are things like height, a sufficient sized dick or ass, money in the bank, a specific waist size, skin tone, or what have you. We know what we want and we don't want to settle for less. But what I don't understand is how people get upset when you tell them that they don't meet your preferences

I know as gay black men, we all have seen and heard things such as no fats/no fems, dark/light skinned only, height/weight proportionate, and black men/white men only. Some brothas are downright mean with rules lists longer than the NFL and those are the ones who I avoid. But I respect the preferences in what he is looking for. If he says no tall dudes allowed, then i'm not gonna try to press forward. I remember once I was at a club and saw a dude who was about 5'5" with a nice muscular build. I thought that he was attractive so I stepped to him and tried to see what he was about. About 3 minutes into the conversation, he told me that he doesn't like guys who are much taller than him. I WAS REJECTED!!!! But I didn't get upset.
My response was "I gotcha" and I walked my ass away to the bar. Why would it upset me if I wasn't what he liked? He looked quite shocked that I wasn't upset.

If a brotha tells me that I am not his type, I don't get upset. I just move on. We all know that men are visual creatures, so if a dude can look at me and tell that I am not in his list of preferences, then oh well. I'm just not. I have seen dudes get damn near suicidal because a dude told him that he wasn't his type. Back in college a friend of mine who happened to be overweight met a dude and they went out on a date. Near the end of the date, the dude told him that he was too heavy to date. After he got home, he called me in tears telling be about how he was gonna kill himself because no one wanted him because he was fat. I wasn't a very tactful person back then so I told him that if he felt that way, then he had 2 choices: Lose weight or just slit his wrist. *I knew he wasn't gonna kill himself anyway*

I think that self-esteem and self-image have a lot to do with how people react to rejection. I have high self-esteem and self image, so I don't take rejection to heart or mind. But there are some people who need validation from others in order to feel good about themselves. People, seriously, we need to wake up and smell the coffee. You DO NOT need someone else to validate you. If you are waiting on others to do that, you'll be waiting for the rest of your life. You have to do it for yourself.

The next time a brotha rejects you, just let it go. You may lose a little pride, but try to retain your dignity. You can't be every dudes' type, but you are someone's type. You can't control how other people treat you, but you can control how you react to them. You can't blah, blah, blah... I think you all get the picture.

Oh Hell No!!!!!!

I got on the scale today and it said 200lbs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Guess who's going back on the diet and exercise plan that he was on back in 2005. I have decided that 180lbs is where I was most satisfied with my weight. I have 20lbs to lose and 5 months to lose it.
The Norris Diet goes as follows:

Morning-Bowl of flavored low-sugar oatmeal with some yogurt and a glass of orange or apple juice.

Snack 3 hours later of a glass of water and a granola bar (I love those things)

Lunch-A turkey, bologna, or ham sandwich with some Lays backed potato chips and some flavored water or juice.

Snack 3 hours later of a glass of water and some fruit of some sort.

Dinner-a Healthy Choice dinner of less than 500 calories and water to drink

A granola bar if I feel hungry later in the evening.

Water, Water, Water-----No Soda or Sugary Drinks of any kind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I do go out to eat, I only eat half of my food and take the rest home for another meal.
This keeps me on average less than 2000 calories per day.

I was on this diet in 05 and it worked. I could SEE the difference not only on the scale, but in my measurements. Now once I get the eating under control, I can start working in the gym again.
